QuestionAnswer
What produces body movement if bones and joints cannot move on their own? Muscles working with the skeletal system.
What are the two main divisions of the nervous system? The central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
What is the fight or flight response controlled by? The sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system.
What does the cerebellum help the body do? Coordinate and fine tune skeletal muscle movements.
What protects the brain with three connective tissue layers? The meninges.
What are the two main categories of sense organs in the body? General sense organs and special sense organs.
What do hormones do in the endocrine system? They regulate metabolism, growth, reproduction, stress response, and mood.
What types of stimuli can sensory receptors detect? Pain, temperature, touch, and proprioception.
What gland contains pancreatic islet cells that release hormones? The pancreas.
What organs are involved in the sense of balance? The structures in the inner ear, including the semicircular canals and vestibule.
