| Pancreas | A gland located behind the stomach with both endocrine and exocrine portions. |
| Iris | The colored portion of the eye that surrounds the pupil. |
| Retina | The innermost layer of the eye containing photoreceptor cells. |
| Axon | The long extension of a neuron that carries signals away from the cell body. |
| Thalamus | A paired structure located in the diencephalon above the brainstem. |
| Perimysium | The connective tissue that surrounds muscle fascicles (bundle of fibers). |
| Dendrites | Branchlike projections of a neuron that receive incoming signals. |
| Pons | A rounded structure in the brainstem between the midbrain and medulla. |
| Medulla Oblongata | The lowest part of the brainstem located just above the spinal cord. |
| Sarcolemma | The specialized plasma membrane of a muscle fiber. |
