QuestionAnswer
What is the main function of the respiratory system? To exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between the body and the environment.
What structure is responsible for gas exchange in the lungs? Alveoli.
What type of muscle controls breathing? The diaphragm (skeletal muscle).
What is hemoglobin’s role in the blood? Transports oxygen from lungs to tissues.
What chamber of the heart pumps blood to the lungs? Right ventricle.
What is systole? When the heart relaxes and fills with blood.
What is the function of red blood cells? Carry oxygen to tissues.
What is the function of white blood cells? Defend the body against infection.
What organ filters blood and produces urine? Kidneys.
What is the basic functional unit of the kidney? Nephron.
What is urine made of? Water, urea, and waste products.
What is the role of the liver in digestion? Produces bile and processes nutrients.
What hormone regulates blood sugar? Insulin.
