How are skeletal muscles attached to bones? tendons
What are the two main classes of cells in nervous tissue? Neurons and neuroglia
What is the function of neurons? They communicate by transmitting electrochemical signals
When do the four major tissue types of the body first appear? During the embryonic period, within the first 2 months after conception
What is the hollow ball of cells formed after repeated cell divisions of the zygote? blastocyst
Where is the hypothalamus located? Superior and anterior to the brainstem, and inferior to the thalamus
What is the main function of the heart? To pump blood through the body
Where is red bone marrow found? In the spaces between trabeculae of spongy bone, especially in long bone ends and flat bones.
What type of tissue is red bone marrow? Hematopoietic tissue containing stem cells that produce blood cells
