| water cycle | The continuous movement of water between the land, ocean and atmospheres. |
| evaporation | When liquid water changes into vapor. |
| transpiration | When plants release water vapor into the air through their leaves. |
| sublimation | When a solid changes directly into a gas without becoming liquid first. |
| condensation | When water vapor in the air cools and changes into tiny droplets. |
| precipitation | Any form of water that falls from the sky, like rain snow sleet or hail. |
| weather | The day to day conditions of the atmosphere. |
| humidity | The amount of water vapor in the air. |
| relative humidity | How much moisture is in the air compared to how much it could hold at that temperature. |
| dew point | The temperature at which air becomes full of moisture and water droplets start to form. |
| air pressure | The force of air pushing down on the Earth's surface. |
| wind | Air that moves from a place with high air pressure to a place with low pressure. |
| visability | How far you can see clearly, usually measured in distance. |
| Air Mass | A large body or air with similar temperatures and humidity. |
| front | The boundary where two different air masses meet. |
| jet stream | A fast, narrow band of air high in the atmosphere that moves weather across the globe. |
| thunderstorm | A storm with thunder, lightening and heavy rain. |
| lightning | A sudden flash of electrical energy in the atmosphere. |
| thunder | The sound caused by lightning heating the air and making it expand rapidly. |
| hurricanes | A large rotating storm that forms over the warm ocean water with very strong winds. |
| storm surge | A rise in sea level caused by a hurricanes winds pushing water toward land. |
