| What is the origin of a muscle? | Fixed attachment point of a muscle |
| What is the insertion of a muscle? | Movable attachment point where the muscle pulls. |
| What are neurons? | Main nerve cells that send electrical signals. |
| What is a dendrite? | The part of the neuron that receives signals. |
| What is an axon? | The part of the neuron that sends signals |
| What makes up the CNS? | The brain, and spinal cord |
| What makes up the PNS? | All nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. |
| What is the sympathetic division? | "Flight or fight" system |
| What is the retina? | Light-sensitive layer of the eye. |
| What is a sensory receptor? | A structure that detects stimuli |
| What is pituitary gland? | The "master gland" that controls other endocrine glands. |
| What does the pancreas secrete? | Insulin and glucagon |
| What are the upper chambers of the heart? | Atria(left and right) |
| What is the function of the valves? | Prevent blood from flowing backward |
| What are leukocytes? | White blood cells that fight infection |
| What is lymph? | Fluid that has leaked out of blood vessels |
| What is immunity? | The body ability to resist disease |
| What are T-cells? | These are cells that attack infected cells directly. |
| What are B-cells? | Immune cells that produce antibodies. |
| What is the main function of the respiratory system? | Gas exchange, bringing in oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. |
| What is the trachea? | Windpipe |
| What is tidal volume? | The amount of air inhaled/exhaled during normal breathing. |
