Alimentary Canal the main tube of the digestive system that passes through the ventral cavities.
Upper Digestive Tract Mouth, Pharynx, Esophagus, and stomach The Mouth, Pharynx, Esophagus, and stomach
Lower Digestive Tract Small intestines (duodenum, jejunum, Ilium), Large intestine, the cecum, colon (Ascending transverse, descending, sigmoid) Rectum, anal canal
Digestion The process of altering the physical and chemical properties to be absorbed by the body cells.
Large Intestine Three divisions: Cecum, colon: (Ascending transverse, descending, sigmoid) and rectum
Endocrine System Responsible for the secretions of hormones to maintain stability
Functions of Lymph nodes: Filtration and maintaining fluid through vessels and pumps.
What is does the Lymphatic system function: Maintenance of fluid balance and Immunity, and lymphatic system absorption of digested food to the small intestine
What is the Respiratory Systems Function: Air distributor and gas exchanges so cells can be oxygenized and release of carbon dioxide.
What makes up the Lower Respiratory System? Trachea, segments of the trachea tree, and the lungs.
What makes up the Upper Respiratory System? Nose, nasopharynx, oropharynx, laryngopharynx, larynx,
The Cecum Blind pouch located in lower right quadrant of abdomen
Ascending colon located right side abdomen
Transverse Colon located below liver, stomach and spleen
Descending colon Located left side abdomen
The sigmoid colon located below the iliac crest and forms an "S" SHAPE
The rectum crescent shape and holds stool, end of alimentary canal
The dueodenum Chemical digestion occures
The jejunum Absorption of nutrients occurs
Ilium b12, bile salts and other nutrients are absorbed
