Epimysium Coarse sheath that covers the whole muscle
Synergist Muscles that contract at the same time as the prime mover
Neurons Excitable cells that conduct the impulses that make possible all nervous system functions.
Synapse The place where nerve information is transmitted from one neuron to another
Dermatome Each skin surface area supplied by sensory fibers of a given spinal nerve
Myotome A skeletal muscle or group of muscles that receives motor axons from a given spinal nerve
Nociceptor The free nerve endings that serve as the primary sensory receptors for pain
Endolymph The clear and potassium-rich fluid that fills the membranous (inner ear) labyrinth
Equilibrium Sense of balance
Hematopoiesis Formation of new blood cells
Pericardium Multilayered sac covering the heart
