Digestive system The digestive system is a network of organs, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine, that breaks down food into nutrients the body can use for energy, growth, and repair
Respiratory system The respiratory system is a biological system that enables gas exchange, taking in oxygen from the air and expelling carbon dioxide from the body
urinary tract The urinary tract, also called the renal system, is the body's drainage system for removing waste and extra water through urine
Lymphatic system The lymphatic system includes the tonsils, spleen, thymus, lymph nodes and lymph vessels
Cardiovascular system The cardiovascular system is the body's transportation network, consisting of the heart and blood vessels, that circulates blood to deliver oxygen and nutrients and remove waste
Endocrine system The endocrine system is a network of glands that produce and secrete hormones to regulate the body's functions, including metabolism, growth, mood, and reproduction
Appendicular muscles Appendicular muscles are the muscles that stabilize the pectoral (shoulder) and pelvic (hip) girdles and move the upper and lower limbs
Axial muscles Axial muscles are the muscles of the trunk, head, and neck, as well as the muscles controlling the eyeballs and the tail
nervous system cells The two main types of cells in the nervous system are neurons and glial cells. Neurons are the primary signaling cells that transmit electrochemical signals, while glial cells provide essential support, protection, and nourishment to neurons.
CNS, PNS The central nervous system (CNS) includes the brain and spinal cord, which process information, while the peripheral nervous system (PNS) consists of all other nerves that connect the CNS to the rest of the body
