Muscular System

Muscular (2 Function/role in the body) 1. Allows the body to have mobility (move) 2. Helps blood and food material to move through the body
What are muscles? An organ that can relax and contract, and moves your body
2 types of muscles 1. Voluntary muscles: Muscles you can control 2. Involuntary muscles: muscles you can't control
3 types of muscle tissue 1. Skeletal muscle 2. Smooth muscle 3. Cardiac muscle
Skeletal muscle is attached to.... Bones to make them move
Tendons connect... Muscle to the bone
Skeletal muscles contract... Quickly and tire easily so they need to rest
Skeletal muscles look... Striped or striated
Your body moves because... Pairs of muscles work together
The ends of a muscle attach to... One end at the end of a bone by a tendon, the opposite end to an adjacent bone
Muscles always pull... Against the opposite bone
Smooth muscle Regulates blood pressure, digestion, and other internal functions
Examples of a smooth muscle Stomach, bladder, blood vessels
Cardiac muscle is found where In your heart
Cardiac muscle is voluntary or involuntary? Involuntary
Does the cardiac muscle need input from the brain to beat? No
