What is the primary function of the axial muscles? They support and stabilize the head, neck, and trunk and assist with posture and breathing.
What is the main function of appendicular muscles? To move the limps and stabilize the shoulder and pelvic girdles.
What is the main job of a neuron? To generate and transmit electrical nerve impulses.
What do neuroglial cells do? They support, protect and nourish neurons.
What two structures make up the central nervous system? The brain and spinal cord.
What does the autonomic nervous system regulate? Involuntary functions such as heart rate, digestion and gland activity.
What is the function of the sensory receptors? To detect changes in the environment such as light, pressure or chemicals.
What is a hormone? A chemical messenger released by endocrine glands to regulate body functions.
What is the main job of the heart? To pump blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients.
What is the primary function of the respiratory system? To exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between the body and the environment.
