| Thyroid Cartilage | The largest cartilage of the larynx, also known as the Adam’s apple. |
| Surfactant | A lipid-protein substance made by type II alveolar cells that keeps the alveoli from collapsing. |
| Nasopharynx | The upper part of the pharynx located behind the nose, connected to the middle ear by the eustachian tube. |
| Cricoid Cartilage | A ring-shaped cartilage forming the lower border of the larynx. |
| Bronchioles | The smallest airways in the bronchial tree that lack cartilage and lead toward the alveoli. |
| Right Primary Bronchus | The wider, shorter, and more vertical bronchus, making it the most common site for inhaled objects. |
| Trachea | A flexible, cartilage-supported tube about 11 cm long that carries air from the larynx to the bronchi. |
| Conchae | Curved bony projections inside the nasal cavity that swirl and filter incoming air. |
| Respiratory Membrane | The thin barrier where gas exchange occurs, made of alveolar epithelium, fused basement membranes, and capillary endothelium. |
