What is Hormone? A chemical messenger released by endocrine glands that travels through the bloodstream to target organs
What is the function of the thyroid gland? It regulates metabolism, growth, and energy use through hormones T3 and T4.
What does the parathyroid hormone (PTH) do? It increases blood calcium levels by acting on bones, kidneys, and the intestines.
Lymphatic System A network that returns excess fluid to the blood, absorbs dietary fats, and protects the body through immune responses.
What is lymph? A clear fluid that contains white blood cells and helps return fluid to the bloodstream.
What is tidal volume? The amount of air inhaled or exhaled during quiet, normal breathing.
What does surfactant do? It reduces surface tension in the alveoli and prevents them from collapsing.
What is the role of the pancreas in digestion? It produces digestive enzymes that break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
What is the main function of the small intestine? Digestion and absorption of nutrients.
What is GLP-1? A hormone that enhances insulin release and promotes satiety by slowing digestion.
