| Disorientation | Permanent is caused by physical changes to the structure of the brain (reversible) |
| Delirium | Occurs suddenly and usually without warning |
| Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias | Most common form of dementia, brain physically shrinks as brain cells die, and ultimately how the brain functions is affected |
| Vascular Dementia (Multi-infarct dementia) | A type of dementia caused by reduced blood flow to the brain, often from strokes or damaged blood vessels |
| Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) | A type of dementia caused by abnormal protein deposits (Lewy bodies) in the brain |
| Frontotemporal Degeneration Dementia | Generally occurs between 40 and 60 years, with women slightly more affected than men |
