When do we use A or AN to say what somebody does or what something is? With countable singular nouns when stating an occupation or classification.
When do we use A or AN when mentioning a thing or person for the first time? With countable singular nouns when introducing them for the first time in the conversation.
What common exclamation structure requires the use of A or AN? In exclamations using the structure What a…!
When are A orAN used in relation to frequency? In phrases that mean how often something happens (e.g., a week, an hour).
When is THE used for something already mentioned? When referring back to a specific thing/person that has already been introduced A/AN.
When is THE used because the context makes the noun specific? When it is clear from the context or a defining clause (which, who, that) what specific thing/person we are talking about.
When is THE used with objects that are considered unique? With a unique object or concept (e.g., the sun, the moon, the internet, the world).
Which specific types of public places often take THE? With places in a town like the theatre, the cinema, the bank, the post office.
THE is always used with which adjective form? With a superlative adjective (e.g., the best, the largest, the most expensive).
When do we use no article when talking about things in general? When talking about plural or uncountable nouns in a general sense.
When do we omit the article with nouns like home, school, or work? After the prepositions at/to/from with specific nouns like home, school, work, church when referring to the purpose or state of being there.
Name three common time/routine nouns that generally take no article. Before days, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and months.
Which words used with time periods (week, month, year) mean you don't use an article? Before last or next followed by week, month, year (e.g., last week, next year).
