| What is the difference between a twitch contraction and a tetanic contraction? | Twitch contraction is a short muscle contraction from one signal whereas tetanic contraction is a long muscle contraction caused by many signals in a row. |
| Compare somatic nervous system and automatic nervous system. | SNS controls voluntary movements in the body whereas ANS controls involuntary movements like breathing/heartbeat. |
| What are the functions of the thalamus and hypothalamus? | Thalamus sends sensory information to the right side of the brain and hypothalamus controls things like hunger, temperature, and sleep. |
| Name the six receptor categories and their senses. | Mechanoreceptors: sense pressure and touch Chemoreceptors: sense taste and smell Thermoreceptors: sense temperature Nociceptors: sense pain Photoceptors: sense light (eyes) Osmoceptors: sense body fluids |
