The wall of the alimentary canal has four main tissue layers (tunics). Name them from the innermost layer to the outermost layer. Mucosa, submucosa, muscularis externa, and serosa (or adventitia in some regions like the esophagus)
What is the primary function of the large intestine? To absorb most of the remaining water and electrolytes from indigestible food matter and form feces
What small flap of tissue prevents food from entering the trachea (windpipe) during swallowing? The epiglottis
