Nervous system and lymphatic system

Describe the generalized functions of the nervous system. Sensory – gathers information from inside and outside the body. Integration – interprets the information and decides what to do. Motor – sends commands to muscles or glands to respond.
Identify and describe the various subdivisions of the nervous system Central nervous system brain and spinal cord. Peripheral nervous system nerves outside the CNS.
What are the main functions of the nervous system? To sense changes, process information, and cause the body to respond.
How are neurons classified by structure? Multipolar, bipolar, and unipolar neurons
What are the 3 parts of a simple reflex arc? A sensory neuron, an interneuron, and a motor neuron
Where are major lymph nodes found? Ineck, armpits, and groin
What do lymph nodes do? Filter lymph and help activate immune cells
How are lymph vessels similar to veins? Both have thin walls and valves that keep fluid moving one way
What cells work in the immune/lymphatic system? Lymphocytes (B and T cells), macrophages, and dendritic cells
What are examples of the body’s barriers of defense? Skin, mucus, stomach acid, and tears
