QuestionAnswer
What is plasma? Plasma is similar to gas but has a huge amount of energy and behaves differently than gas. The sun, stars, lightning and northern lights are all plasma.
What causes a change of state? Adding or removing heat energy from particles cause the matter to change from one state to another.
What is melting? Melting is that change of state from solid to liquid when solids are heated the particles gain energy and vibrate fast. The more heat supplied the more particles vibrate making the forces holding the particles together break, particles separate.
What is evaporation? When a liquid changes to a gas at the surface of a liquid, when liquids are heated the particles get energy and move faster. Evaporation occurs when particles on the surface of liquid build up enough energy to break free as gas,it can happen at any temp.
What is boiling? Boiling is when a liquid changes to a gas, when a specific temp is reached, particles of gas form throughout the liquid, when bubbles have formed throughout the liquid,it is boiling. Boiling is quicker than evaporation.
What is the boiling point? The boiling point is the set temperature boiling occurs, different liquids have different boiling points,e.g water boiling point is 100 degrees Celsius.
