QuestionAnswer
What is matter? Matter is anything that takes up space and has volume
What are the properties of solids? Explain how and why this happens 1. Fixed shape 2. Fixed volume 3.cannot be compressed 4. Does not flow
What are the properties of liquids? Explain why and how this happens 1. Do not have a fixed shape 2. Takes shape of whatever container it’s in 3.fixed volume 4. Very difficult to compress 5.liquids flow
What are the properties of gas? 1.no fixed shape, takes shape of whatever container the gas is in. 2. No fixed volume, fills any available space. 3. Can be compressed 4. Gas does flow.
What do solid particles do? The particles of a solid are packed close together in a fixed pattern, they do not move but they vibrate, there are very strong forces holding the particles together
What do liquid particles do? Liquid particles are close together but are not in a fixed pattern, the particles can move and slide past each other, the forces holding the particles together are weaker than in solids.take shape of te container their in. Liquids are difficult to compress
What do gas particles do The particles in gas are not close and are not in a pattern, the particles move continuously and randomly in all directions,it fills any available space, the forces holding the particles together are weak so it can be compressed and it can flow.
