What are the major connective tissue layers of skeletal muscle? Epimysium, perimysium, and endomysium
What six features are commonly used to name muscles? Location, shape, size, fiber direction, number of origins, and function.
What is the importance of posture? It maintains body alignment, balance, and supports internal organs.
What are the generalized functions of the nervous system? Sensory input, integration, and motor output.
What is an ipsilateral reflex arc? A reflex in which the sensory and motor responses occur on the same side of the body.
What are the two divisions of the autonomic nervous system? Sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions.
What are the three layers of the meninges? Dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater.
What receptors detect body movement and muscle position? Proprioceptors.
Which organs are involved in balance? The semicircular canals, vestibule, and otolith organs of the inner ear.
What is the primary function of hemoglobin? To transport oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.
What determines AB and Rh blood groups? The presence or absence of specific antigens on red blood cells.
What are the two primary lymphatic organs? Bone marrow and thymus.
What are the major functions of lymph nodes? Filtration of lymph and activation of the immune response.
What is the primary site of gas exchange in the lungs? The alveoli.
What structures make up the upper respiratory tract? The nose, pharynx, and larynx.
