hematologist a dr who specializes in blood disorders
CBC complete blood count
aphereresis a procedure to remove a specific component from the blood
FBC a breakdown of red and white cells and platelets
HCT thickness or viscosity of blood caused by excess red blood cells
leucoocytes term for white cells or granulocytes
neutropaenia decreased white blood cells
plasma straw- coloured fluid which our cells travel
platelets sticky smaller cells that circulate in the blood
platelet count calculated number of platelets in a volume of blood
RBC red blood cells
thrombocythaemia abnormally high number of platelets in the blood
thrombocytopaenia lower than normal number of platelets
thrombocytosis high platelet count
thrombosis formation or presence of a blood clot in a blood vessel
WBC white blood cells
warfarin a tablet commonly used after a blood clot to thin the blood
