Define the term ADAPTATIONS Features that enable organisms to survive in the conditions in which they normally live.
What are the 3 types of adaptation? structural, behavioural, functional
Describe STRUCTURAL adaptation physical features e.g. colouring for camoflage to avoid predators / hunt prey
Describe BEHAVIOURAL adaptation ways an organism acts e.g. courtship dances to attract a mate
Describe FUNCTIONAL adaptation biological processes e.g.kidneys producing highly concentrated urine to conserve water
What are extremophiles? Organisms that live in very extreme environments e.g. high pressure, temperature or salt concentration
Give an example of an extremophile. bacteria living in deep sea vents
