Shots and Angles

TermDefinition
script A written blueprint outlining scenes
character A person or figure in the video story.
dialogue Spoken words exchanged between characters.
narration Voiceover that explains or adds context to the visuals.
scene A segment of the video that takes place in a single location or time.
action Physical movements or activities performed by characters.
storyboard A visual plan of the video
shot A single continuous view captured by the camera.
frame One image or drawing in a storyboard representing a shot.
visual sequence The order of shots that create a visual flow.
composition The arrangement of elements within a frame.
continuity Consistency of visual details across shots to maintain flow.
pan Horizontal camera movement from side to side.
tilt Vertical camera movement up or down.
zoom Adjusting the lens to make the subject appear closer or farther.
angle The position or perspective from which the camera views the subject.
blocking Planning actors' positions and movements within a scene.
transition A visual effect that connects two shots or scenes.
title screen A text or graphic introducing the video.
music Background audio that sets mood or tone.
voiceover Recorded voice added to explain or narrate visuals.
reflection A written or verbal review of what was learned or created.
revision Editing and improving a script or storyboard for clarity.
pacing The speed and rhythm of a video's scenes.
tone The mood or attitude conveyed by the video.
clarity How easily the audience understands the message.
framing How subjects are positioned within the camera's view.
setup Preparing props
cut A basic transition where one shot immediately follows another.
fade A gradual transition to or from black or another color.
critique An evaluation of creative work with constructive feedback.
feedback Comments provided to improve a project.
establishing shot A wide shot that sets the scene's location and context.
full shot Shows the entire subject from head to toe.
medium shot Frames the subject from the waist or knees up.
close shot Focuses on the subject's face or upper body.
extreme close shot Shows a very small detail
up shot A low-angle shot looking up at the subject.
down shot A high-angle shot looking down on the subject.
over the shoulder shot Frames the subject from behind another character's shoulder.
two shot Shows two characters together in the same frame.
point of view shot Shows what a character sees from their perspective.
dolly Camera moves toward or away from the subject on a track.
truck Camera moves sideways along a track.
pedestal Camera moves vertically up or down without tilting.
