Epididermis Outer most, avasuclar layer of skin(lacks blood), epithelial tissue

melanocyte cell in the epidermis that produces the pigment melanin
melanin a dark pigment responsible for the color or or skin, ect.
holocrine glands glands that release their secretion by the rupture of the entire gland cell
sebum an oily substance secreted by sebaceous glands that lubricates skin and prevents water loss
sudoriferous glands sweat glands
apocrine glands sweat gland in the armpits and groin, milky secretion and body odor
radiation heat via infrared waves
conduction heat transfer through direct contact
convention heat transfer through air
evaporation gas to liquid
negative feedback a control mechanism that counteracts a change in a varirable
hypothermia body temp drops below normal
hyperthermia body temp is above normal
albinism disorder due to lack of melanin
cyanosis bluish or purplish coloration of skin, due to lack of oxygen
jaundice yellowing of the skin
inflammation part of body becomes swollen , reddened, hot, ect.
autograft a graft of tissue from one point to snother on the same individuals body
homograft a graft of tissue from a donor of the same species as the recipient, NOT THE SAME INDIVIDUAL
eccrine type of sweat galnd that produces watery secreation
