neutrons carries a no charge, when combined with protons forms the nucleus

Lewis dot diagram a simplified way to show how electrons are arranged in their outer ring (valence electrons)
chemical symbol used to represent the elements
atomic number the number in the top left corner of an element that tells you how many protons and electrons there are
period a row of elements across the periodic table (horizantal)
group elements in the same column (vertical)
noble gasses non metallic elements in group 18
halogens highly reactive non metallic elements in group 17
Alkali metals the 6 elements in group 1
ions atoms or a group of atoms that have an electric charge
covalent bonds the chemical bond formed when two atoms share electrons
ionic bonds the attraction between oppositley charged ions
