Science Microscope
| Term | Definition |

| Arm | Used to hold the microscope when it is being carried. |
| Stage | A flat platform where the specimen slides are placed for viewing. |
| Stage clips | Clips used to hold the specimen slides in place |
| Light source | Provides light to better see the specimen. |
| Base | The bottom of the microscope that used for support. |
| Diaphragm | Used to control the amount of light that passes through the stage. |
| Eyepiece | Contains the lens that you look through. This lens is typically 10x. |
| Coarse adjustment knob | Moves the stage up and down by large amounts to bring the specimen into focus. |
| Fine adjustment knob | Moves the stage up and down by much smaller amounts to fine-tune focus and increase the detail of the specimen. |
| Objective lenses | The three lenses that can be rotated to change the magnification. On most microscopes, they are 4x, 10x, and 40x. |
| Revolving nosepiece | Holds the objective lenses. Can be rotates to change the magnification level. |
| Body tube | Connects the eyepiece lens to the objective lens. |
