| Conclusion | The final paragraph that restates the main idea and wraps up the writing. |
| Thesis | A sentence in the introduction that clearly states the writer’s main point or claim. |
| Extended Response | A longer answer that explains your thinking using evidence, details, and complete sentences. |
| Editing | Fixing mistakes in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization in your writing. |
| Topic Sentence | The first sentence of a paragraph that tells what the paragraph will be about. |
| Supporting Details | Facts, examples, and explanations that help prove or explain the main idea. |
| Outlining | Planning your writing by organizing your ideas in order before you start your draft. |
| Quote | Words taken directly from a text or speaker, usually shown with quotation marks. |
