QuestionAnswer
What is Poetry? A way a poet expresses their emotions.
What are stanzas? The paragraphs in a poem.
What are lines? The sentences in a poem.
What is Figurative Language Language I have to FIGURE out or INTERPRET!
What is a simile? Comparing two unlike things using like or as Example: My hair is like silk.
What is a metaphor? Comparing two unlike things without using like or as Example: My hair is silk.
What is Alliteration? When a sentence has words that have the same beginning sound like a tongue twister. Example: Sally sat silently.
What is TONE The author's feeling in a story or poem.
What are synonyms for Theme? Moral, Lesson, Message, Central Message
What does Theme mean? The lesson the author wants us to learn from a story or poem.
What is conflict? The problem in the story.
What are characters? The people or animals in a story.
What is the setting? Where and when the story takes place.
What is plot? The events in a story.
What is resolution? The solution to the conflict in the story?
What are character traits? Adjectives to describe how a character looks, talks, or acts.
What is a summary? Retelling a story/poem in my own words using the main idea and key details.
What is a speaker? The character telling the story in a poem (like a narrator).
