Chapter 5 diagnostic tests and procedures

biopsy extraction of tissue for microscopic examination (diagnoses diseases, identifies infection/inflammation)
deep tendon reflexes (DTR) used to test/check nerve functionality of muscles (reflexes)
electromyogram (EMG) test to validate if muscle can contact normally, graph recording stimulus, needle in arm artificially contacts muscle (first regularly then artificially to check both), comes b4 MRI
goniometry method used to measure ROM, goniometers are used for this (triangular thingy)
nuclear medicine imaging (NMI) "bone scan", used to detect cancerous tumors by using radioactive tracers intravenously, harmless, x-ray is taken, fluid identifies cancerous cells and metastasis by collecting in a space it shouldn't
sonography ultra sound (determines gender/if anything is wrong w/ baby), sonographer does this, can be used for anything, is harmless but poor quality
