TermDefinition
POLYGON A plane figure that meets the following conditions: • Formed by three or more sides (no two sides with common endpoints are collinear) • Closed figure • Made of segments
CONVEX If a side of a polygon is extended, and it does not pass through the interior of the polygon the polygon is convex.
CONCAVE If a side of a polygon is extended, and it passes through the interior of the polygon the polygon is concave.
EQUILATERAL A polygon with all sides congruent
EQUIANGULAR A polygon with all angles congruent
REGULAR A polygon with all angles and sides congruent.
DIAGONAL A segment that joins two nonconsecutive vertices
KITE A quadrilateral that has two pairs of consecutive congruent sides
TRAPEZOID A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides
LEGS OF TRAPEZOID non parallel sides of trapezoid
BASE OF TRAPEZOID parallel sides of trapezoid
BASE ANGLES OF TRAPEZOID two pairs of angles whose common side is the base of a trapezoid
ISOSCELES TRAPEZOID A trapezoid with congruent legs
MIDSEGMENT OF TRAPEZOID The segment that connects the midpoints of the legs of a trapezoid.
PARALLELOGRAM A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel
RECTANGLE Parallelogram with 4 right angles
RHOMBUS Parallelogram with 4 congruent sides
SQUARE Parallelogram with 4 right angles AND 4 congruent sides
