| Term | Definition |

| Product | The answer to a multiplication problem |
| Partial Products | A way to multiply where each digit is multiplied separately and then all partial products are added together |
| Associative Property | Says that you can add or multiply no matter how the numbers are grouped |
| Composite Number | A number that has more than just itself and one as factors. |
| Distributive Property | Multiplying a number is the same as multiplying its addends. For instance, 3x8 is the same as 3x (6+2) |
| Divisor | The number by which another number is divided. |
| Prime Number | A number that has only itself and one as factors |
| Remainder | The number left over when a number is divided unevenly into another number |
| Standard Algorithm | Steps for computations with the four operations. |
| Area | The amount of space inside a shape. Calculated by Length x Width |
| Area Model | A model for multiplication problems using a rectangle to track partial products |
| Compare | To find what is the same or different about two things. |
| Division | Splitting into equal parts or groups |
| Equation | Two math sentences (expressions) that are equal |
| Factors | Numbers that are multiplied together to get a product |
| Multiples | The product of any number and any other number. Think "count by" 2, 4 ,6, 8 ,10... are all multiples of 2 |
| Perimeter | The distance around a shape Formula: All sides added together |
| Place Value | The value of a digit based on its position in a number For example: 152 the 5 is worth 50 because it is in the tens place |
| Quotient | The answer to a division problem |
| Rectangular Array | The arrangement of objects into rows and columns |
