| simplest form | The simplest form of an algebraic expression is on which has like terms and no parentheses |
| linear expression | An algebraic form of an algebraic expression in which the exponent of the variable is 1 |
| Literal equation | An equation that has two or more variables |
| inequality | a mathematical sentence that compares expressions |
| solution of an inequality | A value that makes the inequality true |
| solution set | The set of all number which makes a mathematical statemnet true |
| graph of an inequality | a graph that show all the solutions of the inequality on the number line |
| linear equation | an equation whose graph is a line |
| solution of a linear equation | all of the point on a line that makes the equations true |
| slope | a ration of the changes in y (the rise) to the changes in x (the run between any two points on the line. It measure of the steepness of a line. |

| x-intercept | The x-coordinate of the point where a line crosses the x-axis |
