Who won the French and Indian War? The British
How did King George pay for the French and Indian War? He taxed the colonists
What is the Stamp Act? A tax on all paper goods. You had to have a stamp that showed you had paid the tax.
What is the Tea Act? A tax on tea
What is the Townshend Act? A tax on most goods brought from England including wood, glass, paint, and more!
What is the Sugar Act? A tax on sugar and some other food items
What is the Intolerable Acts? This was King George's punishment for the Boston Tea Party. He shut down the port of Boston.
What did the colonists yell to show they were upset about the taxes? No taxation without representation
What is a Patriot? Someone who thinks the colonists should break free from King George and become their own country
What is a Loyalist? Someone who thinks the colonists should remain a part of England and follow the King's rules.
Who was the leader of the Continental Army? George Washington
Who was in charge of writing the Declaration of Independence? Thomas Jefferson
What three things did the Declaration of Independence say? 1. All humans have rights. 2. King George is taking some of those rights away. 3. We are becoming our own country. Bye!
