Migration Vocab

TermDefinition
Migration Movement from one place to another, often for work, safety, or better living conditions.
Emigration Leaving one country to settle elsewhere.
Immigration Entering a new country to live.
Push Factor A reason that drives people to leave their home, such as war, natural disaster, or lack of jobs.
Pull Factor A reason that attracts people to a new place, like job opportunities, safety, or better education.
Internal Migration Moving within a country, such as from rural areas to cities
International Migration Moving across national borders to another country
Refugee A person forced to leave their country due to war, persecution, or disaster
Asylum Protection given by a country to someone fleeing danger, persecution, or violence in their home country
Cultural Diffusion The spread of cultural traits (such as food, language, or traditions) from one place or group to another
Population Distribution How people are spread out across a certain area or the world
