Baptize To perform a ceremony that brings a person into the Christian church.
Pagan Related to the worship of many gods or goddesses.
Prophet Someone chosen by god to bring a message to people.
Heritage Something that is inherited by one person or group from an older person or group.
Assasination The murder of a public figure, such as a government official.
Patrician A member of Ancient Rome’s highest social class; a wealthy landowner in Rome.
Plebians A common person without power in ancient Rome.
Tribune In ancient Rome, an elected plebeian representative
Province An area or region; when an area was conquered by Rome it became a province under Roman control.
Conspirators A person who plans or participates with others in a crime.
Economic Relating to the management of money and resources to produce, buy, & sell services and goods.
Ressecsion a time of reduced economic activity when there is little buying or selling.
Inflation A rise in prices and a fall in the purchasing value of money.
Classical belonging to, or in style of, ancient Greece or Rome.
Pax Romana literally, Roman peace; a period of about two hundred years without major conflicts in the Roman Empire.
Describe the legend that explains the beginning of Rome Romulus and Remus thrown into Tiber river, taken care of by a female wolf. Then Remus was killed so they took the name ROMulus to Rome.
From early on Roman society was based on the army. List some of the ideals and things they admired due to the fact that their society was based on the army. Valor (bravery) loyalty, duty, honor, and faithfulness.
The Ancient Roman Senate was very powerful, and its chief governing body. List some of their responsibilities Make decisions, pass laws, issues at home, and provinces.

How did Caesar gain popularity for himself? By like buying a ton of fancy architecture and art and entertainment and making friends.
Why was Julius Caesar Assassinated? Because everyone was afraid that he was gaining too much power.
Who led the two sides of the Civil War that began after Caesar was assassinated? Brutus and Cassius led one side. Antony and Octavious other side.
Who was the first Roman Emperor? Caesar Augustus ( Octavion, Julius Caesar’s great nephew.
What did Augustus modestly call himself? First Citizen (princeps)
What did the Senate title him? Emperor (Imperator)
What did he do to make Rome a great place? He established long lasting peace (the Pax Romana).
What Emperor made Christianity a legal religion? Constantine
Explain the reason for the fall of the Roman Empire. Fewer jobs and positions became available, Generals fought with each other. People became less united.
How has ancient Greece and Rome impacted and influenced the United States.? The Architecture, the language, the pledge of allegiance, a.m and p.m, democracy, voting.
Why was the success of Rome and its lands dependent on the success of the Roman army? The success of Rome and its land was dependent on the success of the Roman Army, because when they conquered an area those people would become Roman citizens,
What were the Punic Wars, and what was the end result? The Punic Wars were wars between Rome and Carthage. They lasted for over a decade. The end result was that Rome won
How would you describe the character of Julius Caesar, and what brought about his fall from power? I would describe Julius Caesar as a handsome, smart, intelligent, harsh ruler, he loved to be powerful and have power but he got a little too power greedy and the Roman empire started to turn on him. He became dictator for life.
Why might Augustus have wanted to glorify Rome? To make the Romans confident and make them believe that they had a great city and then he changed it so that the Romans could love their city. Augustus also did this to promote Rome as the Capital Empire.
Why was the growth of Christianity originally considered a threat to the Roman Empire? The growth of the Christian religion was originally considered a threat to the Roman Empire because they didn't want Christianity to take over or be better than the Pagan religion. What caused the decline and fall of the western Roman Empire? Some things that caused the decline and fall of the western Roman Empire were money problems. Power struggles, corruption, different Religions, bad leaders, attacks by goths and vandals.
