What is Gregor Mendel known as? The father of genetics
What are Mendel's laws of inheritance? The Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment
What does the Law of Segregation say? During meiosis, pairs of alleles on homologous chromosomes separate and each gamete only receives one allele of each pair
What does the law of independent assortment say? The alleles of two or more different genes get sorted into gametes independently of each other (the alleles given to each gamete do not influence each other)
What is polygenic inheritance? A form of inheritance where two or more genes contribute to a single phenotype
What is a dihybrid? A genetic cross that examines two traits
What is the difference between incomplete dominance and codominance? Incomplete dominance would be an in between of two traits, while codominance would show both traits at the same time
How are purebreds created? Breeding animals of the same breed
How are hybrids created? Breeding two purebreds of different breeds
