EDL Qualitative - CA

TermDefinition
Emic Perspective The perception or view of a culture or groups. The perspective focuses on internal ideas or beliefs associated with its members.
Multiple Constructed Realities Defined as a social construction of personal realities. Often associated with shared experiences within a group of people, or an individual within a group.
Researcher as Instrument Data and experiences are collected within the individual's experience. They view and interpret data through their own interpretation and analysis.
Congruence of Philosophy and Methods Congruence is interpreted as consistency and connection of the method and philosophy used by the researcher and their study.
Thick Description Is a description that provides a significant amount of detail or context, based on the researchers gathering of information on their study or topic.
Quality Criteria Utilizing methods and criteria that is confirmed, dependable, credible, and transferable.
Reliability Methods and research are measured and collected to show results are accurate.
Objectivity Eliminates the bias of the researcher or highlights bias that could impact the study.
Transferability Relevant concepts and findings that can be used to provide context to other studies.
Dependability Methods and findings are coherent.
