| Intramuscular | Injection directly into the muscle tissue |
| Intranasal | Introducing medication thru the nose into the upper respiratory tract |
| Intraspinal | Injection directly into the spinal column |
| Intravenous | Injection into a vein when immediate reaction is desired |
| Oral | Drug introduced into the mouth to be swallowed into the stomach |
| Rectal | Absorbed in the the mucus lining of the rectum |
| Sublingual/Buccal | Dissolving agents such as tablets into the mucus lining of the mouth |
| External Administration | Administered externally inclundin inunctions, ointments, pastes, plasters, transdermal patches, and solutions |
