| peak | the top of a mountain |
| American revolution | a long time ago the American colonies fought to be free from Britain. |
| canal | a long narrow water path made by people to help boats travel from one place to another |
| lock | a special gate in a canal that helps boats go up or down between different water levels |
| skyscraper | A building that is really really tall so tall it almost touches the sky |
| mass production | when many of the same thing are made quickly like toys cars or clothes |
| population density | shows if a place has a lot of people close together or only a few people far apart |
| pollution | when people make the air water or land dirty which can hurt animals plants and people |
| Suburban area | a place with some houses, schools, and stores. Between the city and the country |
| Urban area | A place with lots of building people and stores like a city. |
| Rural area | A place with lots of land, farms, and not many houses. |
