fraction vocab

QuestionAnswer
fraction A number that shows part of a whole
denominator the bottom number in a fraction that tells how many equal parts in a whole is divided into.
numerator the top number in a fraction that tells how many parts are being used or counted.
Lcd The smallest denominator that two or more fractions have in common.
Lcm The smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers.
Equivalent fraction Fractions that have different numbers but represent the same the same amount.
Mixed number A number made up of a whole number and a fraction.
Improper fraction A fraction were the numerator is larger than or equal to the denominator.
Gfc The largest number that divides evenly into two or more numbers.
Simplify Simplest form To make a fraction as small as possible by dividing the numerator and denominator by the same number.
