investment the outlay of money usually for income or profit
return on investment a performance metric that measures the profitability of an investment by dividing its net profit by its cost.
compound interest interest computed on the sum of an original principal and accrued interest
stock a store or supply accumulated or available
bond something that binds or restrains
diversification the act or practice of spreading investments among a variety of securities or classes of securities
retirement account a specialized, tax-advantaged investment account designed to help individuals save money for their future after they stop working
stock market a market for particular stocks
dividend an individual share of something distributed
mutual fund an open-end investment company that invests money of its shareholders in a usually diversified group of securities of other corporations
common stock stock other than preferred stock
preferred stock- -stock guaranteed priority by a corporation's charter over common stock in the payment of dividends and usually in the distribution of assets
corporate bond debt security issued by a corporation to raise money for various business purposes, such as expansion, new equipment purchases, or acquisitions
government bond debt security where an investor loans money to a government in exchange for regular interest payments (coupons) and the return of the original principal when the bond reaches its maturity date
beneficiary a person or thing that receives help or an advantage from something : one that benefits from something
executor one who executes something
trust- a fiduciary relationship in which legal title to someone's property or money is held by another person or entity (as a bank)
estate a landed property usually with a large house on it-
will -a legal declaration of a person's wishes regarding the disposal of their property or estate after death
power of attorney a legal instrument authorizing one to act as the attorney or agent of the grantor
investment liquidity the ability to convert an asset into cash quickly without losing significant value
probate- legal matters that fall under the jurisdiction of a probate court
personal financial planning is the process of managing your money to achieve your personal financial goals
estate planning - the arranging for the disposition and management of one's estate at death through the use of wills, trusts, insurance policies, and other devices
