| Point | A location in space that is represented by a dot and has no dimension. |
| Line | One dimensional geometric figure that extends in two opposite directions without end. |
| Plane | A flat surface made up of points that has two dimensions and extends without end and is represented by a shape that looks like a floor or wall. |
| Endpoints | Points that represent the ends of a line segment or ray. |
| Ray | A geometric figure that consists of the endpoint A and all points on line AB that lie one the same side of point A as point B. |
| Intersection | The set of points two or more geometric figures have in common. |
| postulate/axiom | A rule that is accepted without proof. |
| midpoint | the point that divides a segment into two congruent segments. |
| segment bisector | a point ray line ,line segment or plane that intersects a segment at its midpoint. |
| convex polygon | a polygon in which no line that contains a side of the polygon contains a point in the interior of the polygon . |
| concave polygon | a polygon in which at least one line that contains a side of the polygon contains in the point in the interior of the polygon. |
| polygon | a closed plane figure formed by three or move line segments. |
| acute angle | an angle that has a measure greater than 0 and less than 90. |
| right angle | an angle that has a measure of 90. |
| obtuse angle | an angle that has greater than 90 and less than 180. |
| straight angle | an angle that has a measure of 180. |
| angle bisector | a ray that divides an angle into two angles that are congruent. |
| complementary | two angles whose measures have a sum of 90. |
| supplementary angles | two angles whose measures have a sum of 180. |
| adjacent angles | two angles that share a common vertex and side but have no common interior points. |
| vertical angles | two angles whose sides form two pairs of opposite rays. |
| undefined terms | Words that do not have a formal definitions but there is agreement about what they mean.(point, line, plan) |
| collinear points | points that lie on the same line. |
| coplanar points | points that lie on the same plane. |
| defined terms | terms that can be described using known words such as point or line. |
| segment | consist of two endpoints and all the points between them. |
| opposite rays | rays that start at the same point but go away from each other creating a straight line. |
| coordinate | a real number that corresponds to a point on a line. |
| distance | the absolute value of the difference of two coordinates on a line. |
| construction | a geometric drawing that uses a limited set of tools usually a compass and straightedge. |
| congruent segments | line segments that have the same length. |
| between | when three points are collinear ,one point is between the other two. |
| vertex of an angle | the common endpoint of two rays. |
| angle | a set of points consisting of two different rays that have the same endpoint. |
| sides of angle | the rays of an angle. |
| interior of an angle | the region that contains call the points between the sides of the angle. |
| exterior of an angle | angles that form linear pairs with the interior angles of a polygon. |
| measure of an angle | the absolute value of the difference between the real numbers matched with the two rays that form the angle on the protractor. |
| linear pair | two adjacent angles whose noncommon sides are opposite rays. |
