Delegates Repetition members of Congress, who cast votes based on the wishes of the people who elect them
Trustees Lawmakers Who vote based on his or her conscious or judgment
Partisans Lawmakers who owe their allegiance to his or her political party and votes accordingly to their party line
Politicos Attempt to combine the basic elements of the delegated, trustee and partisan roles- try’s to balance all other three beliefs

Floor consideration That be considered an acted upon a full membership of the house or Senate
Over sight function The process by which Congress checks to see that the executive branch agencies are carrying out policies that the Congress has set by law
Term Two year period when someone serves
Session Is that period of time during which each year Congress assembles and conducts business
Convene Beginning a new session of Congress
Adijourn Suspense until it’s next session
Recess A time when both houses of Congress temporarily suspends business
Prorogue Adjourn as in the legislative session
Special session An extraordinary session of a legislative body called to deal with an emergency situation
Franking privilege Allows Congress to mail letters and other materials, postage free by substituting their facsimile signature for the postage

Incumbent The person who currently holds the office
Continuous body All of the seats are never up for election at the same time
