Cell Cycle & Mitosis
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| G1 Phase | Cells grow and make more proteins and organelles |
| S Phase | Cells copy DNA |
| G2 Phase | Cells grow and make more proteins and organelles for mitosis |
| M Phase | Cells divide |
| Prophase | Chromosomes condense, nuclear envelope breaks down |
| Metaphase | Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell |
| Anaphase | Sister Chromatids are pulled apart |
| Telophase | New nuclear envelopes form around chromosomes |
| Cytokinesis | Daughter cells completely separate |
| p53 | A protein that detects damage to DNA and stops the cell cycle if needed |
| G0 | When cells don't go through the cell cycle |
| Chromosome | Condensed DNA |
| Sister Chromatid | A duplicated, identical copy of a chromosome that only appears during cell replication |
| Nucleus | The center of the cell that contains DNA |
| PMATC | The order of mitosis |
| GSGM | The order of the cell cycle |
| Interphase | G1, S, and G2 |
