Abiotic factors Nonliving parts of an ecosystem; examples: Soil, rocks, water, pH, Salinity, temperature.
Biodiversity The variety of plants, animals, etc. in a given area.
Biome a large geographic are with a similar climate that consists of many ecosystems.
Biosphere all the combined biomes on Earth where organisms can survive.
Biotic factors The living organisms in a ecosystem.
Community all the different population of different species living in the same place at the same time.
Ecologist a scientist who studies the relationship between living organisms and their environment.
Ecology The studies of the relationship between living organisms and their environment .
Ecosystem a community of living organisms plus their nonliving environment.
Habitat The place where an organisms lives.
Niche An organism's role in its ecosystems.
Organisms An individual living thing; example: a mouse, an ant, a mountain lion.
population A group of organisms of the same species that live in the same place at the same time.
Species A group of similar organisms that can interbreed and produce fertile offspring.
