TermDefinition
Abiotic factors nonliving parts of an ecosystem;
biodiversity the variety of plants, animals etc. in a given area
biome A large geographic area with a similar climate that consists of many ecosystems.
biosphere All the combined biomes on earth where organisms can survive
Biotic factors All the living organisms in an ecosystem.
community All the different populations of different species living in the same place at the same time
Ecologist A a scientist who studies the relationship between living organisms and their environment.
Ecology The study of the relationship between living organisms and their environment
Ecosystem A community of living organisms plus their nonliving enviornment
Habitat The place where an organism lives
Niche An organisms role in an ecosystem
organism An individual living thing
population A group of organisms of the same species that live in the same place at the same time
species A group of similar organisms that can interbreed and reproduce and produce fertile offspring
