genital herpes incurable type of sexually transmitted infection that is caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 or type 2
genital human papillomavirus (HPV) STI caused by HPV
gonorrhea sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria
menstruation monthly shedding of blood and tissue through the vagina that happens as part of a woman's menstrual cycle
metrorrhagia abnormal uterine bleeding, especially between regular menstrual periods
oligomenorrhea infrequent or scanty menstrual flow
ovarian cancer cancer of one or both ovaries
ovarian cyst a fluid-filled cyst in the ovary
placenta accreta complication of pregnancy in which the placenta grows too far into the uterine wall, which can cause severe bleeding
placenta previa complication of pregnancy in which the placenta implants too low in the uterus, partially or completely covering the cervical outlet
preeclampsia sudden development of hypertension in pregnancy
sexually transmitted infection (STI) infection caused by sexual contact with an infected person
syphilis STI caused by bacteria, if left untreated, it can cause brain damage, mental health disorders, and death
testicular cancer cancer of one or both of the testicles
trichomoniases a sexually transmitted infection caused by a protozoan
uterine cancer cancer of the uterus
uterine fibroid benign growth that occurs in or on the uterus
cervical biopsy biopsy of the cervix, often performed if abnormal cells are found during a Pap test

colposcopy procedure in which an instrument with a light and viewing lens is used to examine the vagina and cervix
hormone replacement therapy administration of estrogen and/or progestin to replace decreasing hormones in the body during the transition to menopause
hysterectomy surgical removal of the uterus
mammogram x-ray of the breast
mastectomy surgical removal of all or part of the breast and sometimes other surrounding tissue
Pap test test in which cells from the cervix are collected and analyzed under a microscope to detect possible cancerous changes
postnatal care given in the time after birth- also known as post partum care
prenatal care given in the time before birth
prostatectomy surgical removal of all or part of the prostate gland
testicular exam examination of the testes for any abnormal lumps
transrectal ultrasound a test in which an ultrasound probe is inserted into the rectum to produce images of the prostate
vasectomy surgical removal of all or part of the vas deferens as a form of contraception
