Tropism To respond of a plant towards or away from a stimulus
Hormone A chemical that affects growth and development
Photoperiodism A plant response to seasonal changes in length of night and day
Critical night length This one, called the critical network is the number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant with flower
Dormancy A period of time when an organism growth of activity stops
List three stimuli that produce plant responses Touch, gravity and light or three important stimuli that trigger growth responses, or Tropisms, in plants
Give an example of both positive and negative tropism you may draw too if a plant goes toward the stimulus, it is said to show a positive trip. If a plant grows away from a stimulus, it shows negative.Tropism.
Describe what triggers a plant to flower The amount of darkness, a plant receives determines the time of flowering in many plants
Why dormancy is important Dormany helps plant survive freezing temperatures and lack of liquid water
