| Sexual reproduction. | A type of reproduction in which a new organism is produced by combining two parent sex cells. |
| Sperm. | The reproductive cell or gamete of the male parent produced in the testicles. |
| Egg. | In organisms that reproduce sexually , the sex cell ( gamete ) of the parent female. |
| Meiosis. | A division of the cell nucleus to produce sex cells ( gametes ). |
| Fertilization. | In organisms that reproduce sexually, the fusion of an egg and sperm ( gametes ). |
| Zygote. | In sexually reproducing organisms , the cell formed by fertilization. |
| DNA. | Deoxyribonucleic acid, a chemical in the cell nucleus that information and stores the genetic code , consists of stands of molecules that control the activity of cells , using coded instructions. |
| Gene. | The segment of DNA on a chromosome that directs the making of a specific protein , thereby controlling the traits are passed to offspring. |
| RNA. | Ribonucleic acid, carries codes for protein production. |
| Mutation. | Any permanent change in the genetic material bodies. |
